Coastal Pike – Southern Archipelago (Sipoo to Loviisa)
November has brought classic late-autumn pike conditions to the southern coast. Water temps have dropped steadily, pushing fish toward shallow areas, channels and wind-sheltered structure. While some fish still roam shallow on calm, bright days, most consistent action can come from fishing slightly deeper water with heavier lines and slower retrieves.
Despite cooling temperatures, the bite has been solid—especially during short midday warming windows. Clearer water on easterly winds has required more subtle presentations, while westerly gales have pushed bait and pike into protected bays with strong action..
Current Conditions:
Water Temperature: 3–7°C
Water Clarity: Clear on calm days; stained in exposed areas after wind
Wind: Mostly SW–W; strong systems rolling through weekly
Best Fishing Windows: 11:00–14:30, especially after frost mornings
Recommended Tactics:
Switch to sink-3 to sink-7 lines and fish deer hair flies
Use slow strip-pause retrieves, letting the fly hang—most takes come on the pause
Target wind-protected bays, deep reed pockets, rip-rap edges and channel mouths
Look for bait balls
On sunny days, check dark-bottom flats for brief shallow feeding pushes
Top Streamers:
Pacchiarini’s Wiggle Tails (large, slow-moving)
Single Buford variations
Double Buford variations
XXL CJ’s Sluggo
20–25 cm baitfish patterns
Productive Colors: Black/green, firetiger, white/olive, black/purple, natural roach
Trout – Central Finland Streams
Please avoid fishing for trout during the spawning period!
Tight lines and warm hands out there!
